The Benefits of Aloe

Aloe vera has long been studied for its anti-inflammatory, immune-stimulating, and healing properties.

Controlled clinical trials have found aloe vera topical agents effective for treatment of infections such as genital herpes or for wound healing, and oral agents to be effective for diabetes and cholesterol control (1).

Whole aloe vera is a plant composed of an outer green rind and an inner colorless parenchyma. Over 75 active ingredients have been identified from the parenchyma of the aloe vera plant (2). These include proteins, lipids, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, inorganic compounds and small organic compounds in addition to the different carbohydrates. However, polysaccharides make up most of the dry matter of aloe vera. In particular, acemannan, a partially acetylated polysaccharide (3) which has received the greatest interest for its healing properties. Besides the clinical benefits found with aloe vera, acemannan has been found to have antimicrobial, antiviral and antineoplastic properties in vitro (4).

Aloe vera has inspired centuries of research—but not all aloe-derived products are created the same.

VeraPure™ builds on the well-documented benefits of aloe vera through a proprietary process that isolates and stabilizes its active ingredients into a refined crystalline powder designed for product formulation and future innovation.
